Toothpaste can be an all-rounder when it comes to skin problems

By NCVC Staff | Published on Sep 22, 2023

We all know toothpaste as a common household product used for oral hygiene. But what if I told you that toothpaste can actually work wonders for your skin? Yes, it might sound strange at first, but trust me, it’s true.

Just like many of you, I was skeptical about this idea. I mean, how could something as simple as toothpaste improve my skin? However, my friend, who has similar skin issues like mine, convinced me to give it a try. And I must say, I’m glad I did!

Benefits of Using Toothpaste for Skin

If you’re wondering how toothpaste can benefit your skin, let me share some surprising insights:

    It Gives an Instant Glow

For those looking for an instant glow, whitening toothpaste can be your secret weapon. These toothpastes contain whitening agents that can brighten your skin. Here’s how I used it: I mixed some toothpaste with a teaspoon of honey and rose water. After applying this mixture evenly on my skin, I left it for 10 minutes before washing it off with normal water. I then followed up with moisturizer and sunscreen for added protection.

    It Helps with Acne

If you’re dealing with acne, toothpaste can be your savior. During my monthly breakouts, I applied a small amount of toothpaste directly onto the affected area before bedtime. To my surprise, by morning, the redness and size of the pimples had significantly reduced. The drying properties of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide found in toothpaste play a key role in tackling acne.

    It Eliminates Blackheads

One day, on my dentist’s recommendation, I tried a toothpaste variant with exfoliating crystals. Using this toothpaste not only helped in maintaining my oral health but also worked wonders for my blackheads. The gentle exfoliation in the toothpaste removed the stubborn blackheads from my T-zone, making me less reliant on frequent salon clean-ups.

But before you rush to try these hacks, a word of caution: if you have sensitive or extremely dry skin, it’s crucial to do a patch test on your wrist or the back of your neck. If you experience any burning sensation or irritation, it’s best to avoid using toothpaste for your skin.

It’s also essential to mix toothpaste with soothing agents like honey or rosewater to ensure it’s gentle on your skin. Look for toothpaste with minimal or no sulfate content, and make sure it doesn’t over-dry your skin to prevent any adverse effects.

Now you know the secret of toothpaste for skin. I must admit, I was a little cautious at first, but now I’m a big fan of this trick. So why not give it a shot? You might be surprised by the results.
