Here are 3 ways to date yourself during the season of love

By Emily Hagan | Published on Oct 17, 2023

Stuck in a heartbreak, still searching for the right person, or separated from your soul mate? The month of “love” can feel pretty lonesome, especially in a pandemic. But hey, who says you can’t celebrate Valentine’s Day alone? Let’s talk about dating yourself.

I know, the idea of self-dating might sound intimidating, but trust me, it’s a liberating experience that can help you find self-love. As someone who has battled self-doubt, worthlessness, and loneliness, I’ve been there and know how empowering self-dating can be.

Here are three sexy and brilliant ways to enjoy dating yourself:

    1. Plan a Night Out with Yourself

If you’ve been relying on online dating or seeking validation from others, it’s time for a change. I’ve discovered that my worth doesn’t come from being in a relationship. To become the authentic, happy, confident, and brilliant version of yourself, self-exploration is key.

Being single pushes you to find happiness within yourself and become the best partner for yourself. Planning a night out means treating yourself like you’re the special occasion. Wear that gorgeous outfit you’ve been saving, indulge in a few hours at the bookstore, or try meditation classes away from the distractions of the world. Remember, loving yourself unconditionally is the ultimate goal.

    2. Make Every Day Valentine’s Day

Love shouldn’t be confined to just one day in February. February 14th is just another day—there’s no rule that dictates when love should be celebrated. Instead of allowing society to dictate your value on that one day, let’s make Valentine’s Day an everyday glory.

Practice kindness towards yourself and others every day. Treasure the relationships you have with family, friends, and colleagues. Celebrate the highs and lows mindfully, knowing that you are more than just a “holiday special.” Love is meant to be celebrated 365 days a year, and you deserve that.

The world looks brighter when you’re in love with yourself!

    3. Explore Your Pleasure: Masturbate More

Let’s debunk the misconception that sexual pleasure requires a partner. As part of your journey towards self-love, embrace the discovery of your body and what brings you pleasure. Your body is capable of experiencing sexual pleasure, and tapping into this empowering energy is liberating.

By taking control of your pleasure and desires, you assert your right to what truly satisfies you. Exploring your body promotes body positivity, increases self-awareness, and enhances holistic health. Whether you are single or in a loving sexual relationship, prioritize pleasure and create a loving relationship with yourself.

Remember, good solo sex is better than bad sex with someone else.

Valentine’s Day, like any other day, can be wonderful, especially when celebrated with loved ones. However, it can also be a stressful time when you find yourself alone. By working on personal development, self-knowledge, and radical self-acceptance, you become more confident in yourself, kinder to your being, and more compassionate towards others.

So this season of love, don’t let being alone hold you back. Embrace self-dating, celebrate yourself every day, and explore the pleasures that come with being in love with yourself. You deserve it!
