By NCVC Staff | Published on Oct 09, 2023

Do you often find yourself asking others to take another picture because you don’t like your left profile? We’ve all been there, striving for that perfect Instagram-worthy shot, oblivious to how we discard parts of ourselves in the process. Well, actress Vidya Balan has had her fair share of self-conscious moments, and she’s sharing a powerful message for all the women and men who struggle with body image. In a world that constantly scrutinizes her looks and wardrobe choices, she has finally learned the importance of being true to herself. Instead of trying to fit into society’s expectations, she has chosen self-acceptance and embraced every part of herself with confidence.

Vidya Balan Reflects on Body Image Issues

Today’s beauty standards and the pressures of social media have left us with no choice but to constantly strive for perfection. We become victims of society’s beauty standards, hiding parts of ourselves that don’t conform. Vidya shares her own journey, admitting that she used to prefer her left profile over her right. But as she embarked on a path of self-love and acceptance, she realized that favoring one side meant excluding the other. We can all relate to the panic we feel when the world sees imperfections that don’t meet the unrealistic standards.

However, Vidya has grown to accept every part of herself, flaws and all. She bravely shared an unfiltered picture of herself without makeup, proudly showcasing both profiles. It’s evident that she no longer worries about camera angles and feels beautiful and confident just as she is.

“I Like Me Just the Way I Am,” Affirms Vidya Balan

Vidya’s self-love is a powerful reminder that when we shift our perspective, our entire outlook radiates positivity. In her case, her right profile remains the same, but her self-perception transformed everything. Through self-acceptance and love, we can find confidence in our own skin. We can only expect the world to accept us if we wholeheartedly embrace every part of ourselves.

As Vidya once said in an interview, “There is no end to rejecting your body and spending a lifetime doing that. But what really happens is, it is not your body’s fault. Your body needs at least one person on its side, and I said to myself, ‘This is my body, and I love it.'”

Let’s all embrace our true selves, unfiltered and unapologetically!
