Not only does vitamin C brighten your skin, but it also helps with sun damage. In the short-term, it reduces redness and soothes sun-affected skin. Over time, regular application of vitamin C protects the skin from the sun’s harmful rays and aids in the healing of previous damage. The US National Library of Medicine has noted the benefits of vitamin C, which include promoting collagen synthesis, photoprotection, lightening hyperpigmentation, and improving inflammatory dermatoses.
Bid Farewell to Fine Lines
Worry lines and laugh lines can make you self-conscious about your appearance. However, regular application of a vitamin C serum can reduce the appearance of fine lines. Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology published a study showcasing the improvement in participants’ skin after 40 days of using vitamin C. The boost in collagen production resulted in even more visible effects after 60 days of consistent application.
Combat Hyperpigmentation
Hyperpigmentation refers to changes in skin color caused by various factors. Applying vitamin C can significantly reduce these changes. A study published in the Journal of Drugs and Dermatology found that participants experienced a 73% improvement in skin pigmentation after using vitamin C.

Moisturizing your skin is not only important for its appearance but also for its health. Luckily, vitamin C can help with that too! A study from the US National Library of Medicine revealed that magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, a component of vitamin C, hydrates the skin and helps it retain moisture.
So, are you convinced of the benefits of vitamin C? Is it safe to use without a dermatologist’s recommendation? According to Dr. Sethi, “You can absolutely apply vitamin C without a dermatologist’s recommendation. Just make sure the formulation suits you.” However, she advises testing the product before use, especially if you have acne-prone skin. Vitamin C powders mixed with creams or vitamin C lotions are great alternatives for those with acne concerns.
Embrace vitamin C with open arms and watch your skin transform into the glowing and healthy complexion you’ve always dreamed of.
